Early Intervention

– Provided by      Contact:

Overview of Service:

Early Intervention provides support and services to infants and toddlers from birth to age three who have special needs due to developmental delays or disabilities. Early Intervention services occur in the home or other natural environments at no cost to the family for the evaluation and services if the child qualifies. In order to qualify for Early Intervention an intake and evaluation are completed with the child and family to determine strengths, needs, and eligibility. If a child has a medical diagnosis that puts him/her at risk for developmental delays or if a delay of at least 25% (-1.5 standard deviation) is exhibited in one or more of five developmental areas, Early Intervention services can begin to support the child’s development. The five areas of development that are assessed include: physical, communication, cognitive, adaptive, and social-emotional skills. Along with case management, Early Intervention can provide other services as deemed appropriate; such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, special instruction, vision, hearing and nutrition.
